Called GraphCast, this tool has proved its ability to anticipate with <strong>unprecedented accuracy<\/strong> the scale of the storms and hurricanes that have hit the Atlantic coasts in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, DeepMind is not looking to completely replace traditional methods. These networks enable AI to process<strong>huge volumes of data<\/strong>, making it particularly well-suited to improving the quality of weather forecasts. More specifically, this AI is able to take into account data emitted by :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Weather satellites;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speed cameras;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ground stations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marine buoys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By exploiting these multiple sources, artificial intelligence can identify trends and patterns still invisible to the human eye, enabling it to <strong>considerably refine<\/strong> the reliability of weather predictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Machine_learning_to_counter_human_error\"><\/span>Machine learning to counter human error<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/botnation.ai\/en\/photo-generation-ai-revolution\/\">Machine learning<\/a> can also be used to correct any human errors in forecasts. Indeed, even if they have access to the same data as AI, meteorologists are faced with a complex task that requires them to take into account a large number of variables. So there\u2019s always room for error. Thanks to its continuous learning process, AI can quickly detect these errors and <strong>adjust<\/strong> forecasts <strong>in real time<\/strong> to make them more reliable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_benefits_of_better_weather_forecasting\"><\/span>The benefits of better weather forecasting<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An AI capable of pushing the limits of weather forecasting would have many advantages, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Economy<\/strong>: to avoid as far as possible the negative impact of unexpected weather on agriculture, tourism and transport;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Safety<\/strong>: anticipate dangerous climatic phenomena for the population and put in place appropriate protection systems;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Environment<\/strong>: monitor long-term climate trends and adapt environmental policies accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With tools like GraphCast, we\u2019re well on the way to gaining a better understanding of our environment and <strong>considerably improving our ability to anticipate weather fluctuations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DeepMind\u2019s artificial intelligence represents a quantum leap in weather forecasting. By exploiting deep learning and convolutional neural networks, we can considerably increase the reliability of our predictions.
