How Flipr created a super calculator with its chatbot, without a line of code

Chatbots are often (and wrongly) seen as simpletons. At best, in the collective imagination, it appears as a useful tool for obtaining basic information, such as opening hours or an address. If you’re convinced of this, then these lines are for you! A chatbot is a tool capable of making advanced and complex calculations in record time, thanks to its advanced technology. The icing on the cake is that it’s easy to access and use: no line of code is required.

Paul Costaseca is a regular user of the Botnation platform, which he has been using for over 2 years for his company Flipr, with which he deploys connected solutions for the maintenance of private swimming pools. Thanks to an accomplished chatbot, he offers a fast and highly accurate service! He agreed to give us his opinion on the platform.

Introduce yourself and your company:

Flipr is a French company specializing in connected solutions for private pools. Our ambition is to make pool maintenance easier, so that maintenance is no longer a burden, and to enable pool owners to reduce maintenance costs and limit wastage of treatments. To achieve this, we’ve created and marketed a range of innovative products, including Flipr AnalysR, a connected water analyzer that measures water quality in real time and tells pool owners what they need to do to keep the water clean and beautiful all year round.

What issues did you face before launching your chatbot?

We were looking to develop a feature that would enable our prospects to easily calculate the cost of maintaining a pool, and show how our devices could help reduce this cost.

How did you come to the conclusion that a chatbot would meet these needs?

Not having an in-house web developer, we didn’t want to invest in restrictive web development, and above all we wanted to be able to act easily and regularly update the data in this “calculator”. The chatbot solution was the obvious choice because development and implementation seemed easier to us, and above all, interaction with prospects was more fun and friendly than with a form.

Why choose Botnation?

There are several reasons for this. Firstly, Botnation is compatible with our CMS, which makes it much easier to implement. Secondly, Botnation has a simple interface that lets you design your scenario in just a few clicks. We needed to make the bot do some calculations, and this was perfectly feasible with the Botnation solution, again in just a few clicks.

How did you build the chatbot? What was the creation process?

I don’t recall any particular complexities. The scenario is based on a few questions (and sub-questions) to the prospect, and the display of the result.

Have you seen any initial results?

This chatbot has a lead acquisition objective. Until the beginning of 2021, it had a simple call to action at the bottom of the home page. There was no real nurturing program involved: it was a free service offered to our prospects. We became aware of its importance when we inadvertently disconnected it for a few days: many prospects reported its malfunction. We then set up a more in-depth tracking system, which enabled us to see that this chatbot was particularly well integrated into our customers’ conversion tunnel. We have now set up a nurturing program and are monitoring the bot’s performance.

Would you have any advice for a company that also wants to launch a chatbot?

Our chatbot experience is limited because our scenario is very simple. But perhaps the key to this bot’s success is its simplicity.
